On behalf of the Prevatte family, it is with profound sadness, that we must report to you the sudden and unexpected passing of Connie Prevatte. Connie passed away peacefully in her sleep this past Saturday evening.

A complete obituary as well as her memorial tribute video can be accessed via the web at http://www.paulfuneralhome.com/ . Just follow the link for current obituaries. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Washington, NC.

We will receive visitors immediately following the service in the church parlor and at other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Greg Singleton, 409 Alderson Road, Smallwood, in Washington, NC. A private burial will be held at a later date.

We appreciate the kindness and concerns expressed to us by all during this very difficult period.

"Can we teach all children to read and write proficiently?
Yes, we can - but there is no quick fix. It requires teaching expertise, time, and very hard work. The implementation of a Balanced Literacy Framework is critically important to the growth and development of each child's reading and writing proficiency   and should therefore be a part of each day's instructions."
